Heart and Soul

I was fooling around last night with a program I hadn’t used in a few years, Sibelius.

This is what I came up with, based on memory of playing it for years. I didn’t even know what it was called until a friend told me last night.

Avast!

ARRRRRR!!
It be time for International Talk Like A Pirate Day again!
Learn how to talk like a pirate!
Ahoy! - Hello!
Avast! – Whoa! or Hey!
Aye! – Yes!
Aye Aye! – Yes!

Blurb

Last weekend, during my trip to San Francisco, I hit my 10,000th photo on my new camera. File numbering wrapped around back to 0000. To mark the occasion, I started going through my archives, and picking out my favorites. As if a sign, I saw on the new flickr homepage a link to blurb. Aha! Something I can do with them other than a slideshow! Its a shame to take all these high-res 10MP (and in some cases, 300MP+) photos and just use small 600px versions on the web.

So this week, I’ve been working on a layout for a book, of my 80 or so favorite images from my first 10,000. I plan to have the book finished next week sometime, so I’ll have my proof in a couple weeks. I’m not sure if this is the kind of thing I’m going to try and sell, or what yet.

Chinese Magic!

Once again, China does their censorship disappearing act. Last week, China blocked access to iTunes because olympians were downloading the Songs for Tibet (iTunes link) tribute album in defyance of China’s iron-fist internet censorship. I’ve had a chance to check out the remix of Hide and Seek, and it sounds pretty good. It definitely has an eastern motif to it. Well now China has figured out a way to simply block access to the one album without having to block the entire store. Wonderful.

It seems as though nothing will stop the determined China from protecting its citizens from the truths. If only this sort of vigor could be harnessed and put to use for true good!

Here’s the track Hide and Seek 2

mismatch?

I understand how this happens, I just feel like its lazy programming as it appears like a mismatch to the end user.
