Free “Premium” Bibles

Logos Bible Software is celebrating the launch of their new online Bible by giving away 72 ultra-premium print Bibles at a rate of 12 per month for six months. The Bible giveaway is being held at Bible.Logos.com and you can get up to five different entries each month! After you enter, be sure to check out Logos and see how it can revolutionize your Bible study.

Free Book Review

In this case, free modifies both.

Frank Turk, over at Pyromaniacs, is offering a free copy of What He Must Be …if he wants to marry my daughter as part of his review on the book. I was browsing amazon a couple days ago and happened upon this book, and from the skin it looked pretty good. Not knowing anything about it, or if it was really worthwhile, it found its way into my wishlist until I learned more, and I ended up buying Right Thinking in a World Gone Wrong and If Animals Could Talk along with a student bible to test its appropriateness to hand out at Youth Group as a prize.

Even if I don’t win, it seems like a book that might actually be worth the ~$11 from the review.

Free Guide to Life

The folks over at A Boomer in the Pew are giving away a free Calfskin-bound ESV Study Bible. This thing is awesome. I’ve had experience with the ESV Study Bible, and let me tell you, its quite comprehensive! I’ve also seen Crossway’s calfskin bibles, and they’re quite nice to the touch, though I have not seen the combination of the two (yet)!

Transparency

There’s a technique I’ve been meaning to try for some time.

Its a technique called transparent screens. There are a couple methods to make them, but my favorite requires a few steps.

First, you need to take a photo of the scene without the screen up.

Second, you need to put the screen up to figure out the region blocked.

Third, you need to create a desktop wallpaper that plays as your “window”

Once that’s set, just put the finishing touches on your scene, and snap your final. It helps to use a tripod in all this, and keep the settings and lighting constant.

These photos were made for the Logos Photo Contest hosted by Logos Bible Software. They’re also doing giveaways with their Bible Study Magazine, so you can check them out there too.
