Spirit West Coast – Day 4

Day 4: 8/3/08

And on Sunday, we went home.

In the morning, we had a worship service with Todd Agnew. We packed our things, said our goodbyes, and headed home.

Carl’s Jr, being one of the sponsors of SWC ’08, offered us free drinks and discounted food.

All together, it was a great trip. I got a chance to meet some great people, hear some great speakers, and listen to great music. I think making it a group experience is a necessity. Combining efforts for location, food and camping made the experience more enjoyable and relaxing.

Spirit West Coast – Day 3

Day 3: 8/2/08

Day 3′s run was the same as day 2, however I was not taking photos, I was in a flat out sprint.

The day was filled with entertainment, such as the bungee

and Guitar Praise

In the evening, the Army Reps entertained the crowd by launching flying monkeys and squish balls

The crowd to watch the Newsboys was pretty impressive, even though many went to watch Hawk Nelson.

The Newsboys put on a great show, including Breakfast….

After that show, we saw comedy by Gary King, and Bob Smiley. Good stuff!

Day 2: 8/1/08

The evening’s highlight was definitely Toby Mac’s performance.

A good night’s sleep, and we’ll be ready for Saturday….

Spirit West Coast – Day 1

The first full day began the same way the previous night ended. Building 429, Mission 6, Brooke Barrettsmith.

Most of the day we spent wandering around, shuttling the kids from one attraction to the next. Some favorites were in the VeggieTales‘ VeggieLand.

In there we had inflatable “jumpy houses”

balloon animals, crafts & face painting

and Dance Praise. That was something even the older “kids” could enjoy.

The evening’s headliner was Third Day. They performed an awesome set. At one point, they were just asking the crowd for favorites, and playing songs they might not have even played in years!

After that, we were all tired, and called it a night. After all, we had to save up our energy to run the next day…..

Spirit West Coast – Day 0

I’ll start this post series with Day 0, the day we arrived.

Wednesday afternoon, we pull into South Boundary Road. Then we stop. There is a looong line of campers (about a mile and a half) just stopped. People are already outside playing. This is not a great start. After walking a mile or so, I run into people with the scoop, and find out they let too many in to start with, and closed the gate until they could sort it out. Another 15 minutes, and we started moving again, so that crisis was short-lived.

After setting up camp, having a spaghetti dinner, and socializing some, we headed down into Laguna Seca for our first night of concerts.

I got another good shot too:

After that, we had the comedy of Taylor Mason. He makes his own puppets for his very funny ventriloquist act.
